ARK, the London based skincare brand, have launched their new age aware product range. This innovative new line treats skin according to it's age rather than its type, which when you think about it makes complete sense.
Since the first ARK Skincare centre opened its doors 11 years ago in Fulham, they have given over 100,000 treatments and really understand how the skin works and how the structure of it changes as we age.
ARK has gone from strength to strength and now boasts 4 centres across London; 2009 saw the opening of their new flag ship store in Kensington, and the launch of their own age aware skincare line, which came about after a chance meeting on a tropical beach between the founder Shula Starkey and Dr Penny Kendall-Reed, a naturopathic doctor and leading expert in preventative health and nutrition from Canada.
The range is split into three age groups: age prepare which is aimed at teenagers to early 30's, age maintain which is for the mid 30's to 50's and age repair which targets those in their 50's and beyond. Each group has four core products to target and support specific age related concerns and give the skin exactly what it needs at that time.
It is not just about what goes on inside the body, at ARK they also take into account what is going on outside, such as lifestyle and environmental factors. To this aim they have launched eight skin response serums to individualise your skincare plan. These saviours will tackle a multitude of issues including breakouts, sensitivity, fine lines and pigmentation. We love the hydrating serum (£36) which is brilliant in the fight against dry winter skin, or if you're feeling a little lacklustre after too many Christmas parties, try the radiance serum (£34) to brighten and revive your glow.
For the ultimate experience try the new skin response facial (£70) which has been launched alongside the products. After your skin has been assessed, you will be treated to 75 minutes of indulgence. Your skin will be cleansed, exfoliated, steamed and nourished followed by the most amazing massage, stimulating facial muscles and eliminating toxins.
Alternatively you can go online and do an age aware assessment to help you understand your skin a bit more.
ARK have a very holistic approach to skincare, with the view that having a healthy and happy body and mind will reflect well on our skin. In the words of Shula Starkey, "Whereas our eyes are the window to our soul, our skin is the mirror of our health. We should learn to read what it is telling us and respond to those messages, knowing what our skin needs when it needs it."
So listen to your skin, treat it well and do your best to keep it happy, and if that means a facial or two, then who are we to argue?!
